Sexy Make-Up Trends for Fall- Spotlight on Makeup by Tricia

October 29, 2009 by peeknews

I thought it would be fun to have a guest blogger on the Peek blog, so I’ve asked one of my favorite make-up artists, Patricia Kozack of Makeup by Tricia, to share some of the sexy make-up trends for fall. Patricia has been making my clients happy with gorgeous make-up since I first started offering boudoir portraits. I photographed her wedding a couple of years ago and we really become great friends. It’s been so fun working with her and watching her business grow as well! Thanks for all you do Patricia!

Here is her article on sexy make-up trends for fall:

Fall has quickly approached and so have the new makeup trends. Gone are the days of the bronzy beach look and in with deep beautiful jewel toned and metallic colors. You can update your look with just a few key items that will take you into the fall and winter months.
First and foremost, when starting a look, you must have a fresh face.

For the face, start off with a base, your foundation. There is no need for a heavy foundation. Use a light, dewy formula. When applying use a foundation brush, or even a sponge. I am not a huge fan of sponges, but if you wet the sponge a little bit and squeeze out all the water, you can achieve a more airbrushed look.

For your lips, make sure you exfoliate on a weekly basis. The winter months, no matter where you live, can be harsh on lips. Winter tends to be the driest months, so after exfoliating, make sure you apply a lip moisturizer to keep the them soft.

Incorporate some of these trends for a true fall look:

Eyes:
Dramatic eyes are back in a big way! Smokey, intense and bold says it all! Greys, blacks, metallics and purples are the colors of the season. Pair this look with a nude/pale lip and you are set for a night out. You could transform this into a day look by toning down the intensity of all the eyeshadows used. This look is very intense, but sexy, so keep it for a night out with the girls!!

Lips:
Hot bold colors are in for fall. Red lips, always a classic, are joined by rich berry and pink shades. Think eighties hot pink lips! For this look, you will have to wear a more neutral eye to avoid clashing of the colors.

Cheeks:
Rosy cheeks always look beautiful on women, but this fall, they are here in a big way. Adding pink to cheeks add a soft, feminine glow to any look.

Face:
Gone are the times of cakey foundations. Try sheer foundation or matte skin for winter. Let your natural skin show through.

Try these looks on yourself or friends and you will be set for the fall and winter months.

October 19, 2009 by peeknews

Shirley came in recently for a boudoir photography session since she was looking for a gift for her man. She chose the Deluxe package, so we were able to photograph her in three completely different looks- the sexy black dress, sweet white nightie, and flirty pink lingerie with the fur wrap. Loved all her different looks! Thanks to Shirley for letting us share her images! You look gorgeous!

Inspiring Article on Nude Portraits as Phototherapy

October 9, 2009 by peeknews

A woman’s decision to pose semi-nude, nude or just in sensual way is a personal one and every woman has her own reasons. I’ve had clients that were breast cancer survivors, getting over the end of a long term relationship, giving a gift to a hubby stationed overseas, celebrating a marriage or just wanting to be pampered. When I recently came across this article on how nude portrait photography can be used as “phototherapy” I thought it was interesting and wanted to share it with you. A 30-year old woman recently posed nude for a photographer she trusts and wrote an article about her experience for Glamour magazine. She called a “life affirming decision to cherish forever!” Very interesting reading!

Pin Up Girl- Kari’s Photo Shoot

September 30, 2009 by peeknews

I love it when everything comes together perfectly for a photo shoot. The right hair, makeup, wardrobe and especially the attitude of the client make a big difference in my images! When everything comes together just right, it’s like magic! For Kari’s pin-up photo shoot we were so lucky to have all the elements working just so. First, credit goes to Alina at Blow Out Hair Studio for an amazing job on the retro pin up hair styling. The hair was perfect! Then kudos to the talented Chai Janvier for a great job on the make-up. She knew just how to turn Kari into a pin-up girl! Last but not least, thanks to Kari for being so willing to bring it all together and give us her all. Kari did this session as a gift for her hubby-to-be. He’s going to love this gift!

Michelle is the yoga instructor at VIP Women’s Dance Parties and came in for a short promotional shoot for the dance club. We were supposed to only do a 30 minute session, but after I found out she is a professional model also, we shot for 2 hours! What a blast! Michelle was so great about letting my try out some new fashion, boudoir and pin up photo techniques. Did she rock it or what?

Gift for a Military Husband-Kim’s Boudoir Session

September 20, 2009 by peeknews

Kim’s hubby is serving in the National Guard and so she decided to surprise him with a sexy photo shoot and “little black book” that he can take with him on his travels. It’s always fun to incorporate their dog tags and uniform into the session for fun, but we also did some vintage and pin up style looks also.

Great job Kim and thanks for letting us share your pics with other military wives. If any other military wives are considering a session, we do offer a 10% military discount!

August 27, 2009 by peeknews

Sooooo, I’ve never posted the same bride’s images twice on the blog, but today I revisited the images from Susan’s recent boudoir session, and fell in love with these two images. I kept the vintage theme going, but really love the bridal veil look and clean white feel. Hope you love them too!
